That Little Black Dress with a Twist

The little black dress is a staple in any women's wardrobe.  I really like the little black dress because you can wear it over and over again and make it look different every time.  I didn't really put to many accessories with this dress in this picture but as you can see with the other picture, I put a vintage 1960's canary yellow coat over it.  I also wanted to dress to pop a little in both pictures with my shoes.  The shoes I bought from DSW.  The were around $20.00.  I'm not a shoe person, no matter how bad I want to be Carrie from Sex In The City.

I don't get any pleasure out of seeing a pair of amazing shoes and wanting to have them.  I grew up in the country and we walked bare footed all the time.  But if you know anything about fashion, shoes are the soul to making an outfit pop.  I do have some great shoes that I want to feature, so I'll have to look into being a little more Carrie like.  OK so back to the little black dress thing.  This dress is very appropriate for my age and my look.  I maybe should have put my hair up, but I wanted a more sexy look.  I do agree that the look with the jacket I differently should have had my hair up, but again I wanted to make the look a little more casual.  Enjoy

Today is Inauguration Day - Why Not be Chic

It's Martin Luther King Day and the Inauguration of President Obama.  There are so many parties going on tonight the celebrate the joyous day.  Would it be great to have a stunning dress to go to celebrate this day.  This Tadashi red dress is just the thing you need to get that elegant and chic style.  I really love this dress that I got at an estate sale.  This is also on sale in my closet.  Such a wonderful piece for us mature women who want to stand out.  The red is electrifying and the way it gathers all around makes those curves and bumps stand disappear.  Such a comfortable dress to wear.  The chest has great support for the girls.  It falls to the knees and it pulls in that stomach so we can eat a little more than usual.  I really love how it make you look sexy with out giving out to much.  The shoes are clear so I can get just a little more height and leaner.  I also put just a little jewelry on for a little more glamour.   Loving life as a ThriftyGurl.

Green Is The New Black For 2013

Green Cache' Blouse
So It's official the color to be in for 20013 is green.  We see it on the red carpet and now we see it on "Life As A ThriftyGurl".  I've always liked the color green.  As a matter of fact, my maidan name is Green.  I'm not sure if that is the reason I like color green so much.  Anyway, back to the task at hand.  Green is the new black in 2013.  This is a great blouse from Cache'.  I did buy it full price for around $100.00, but can get it at my shop for $55.00, but if you want to get it direct from me I'll give you 10% off.  This is a very sexy blouse.  Made of some top quality materials.  It has buttons up the front that snap.  The details on the shoulders is great and the sleeves can be rolled up and they also have snaps.  I love the blouse so much.  So vibrant ant comfortable.  I would wear this with some jeans, slacks or a skirt.  A blazer would look great on top of the blouse.  This color green will make your outfit pop.  I'm loving the look..Enjoy

Blouse was paired with:
Multi colored heels from DSW  $20.00
Distressed Jeans from thrift store $7.00
Belt from Loahmens by Guess $8.00

Hair Has A Lot To Do With Putting Together Your Style

Bad hair nice outfit
As we grow older, we don't really have time to keep ourselves together.  With work, kids and family, it's so hard to find the time to keep the hair together and match it to our outfits.  I see so many women who have the greatest fashion, but their hair doesn't look that great.  Style is about the polished look.  When you are polished, everything is put together.  Your hair makes a BIG difference in your style.  It completes the look.
My natural hair texture after washing

Extention from His & Her
I myself have all the time in the world to look polished, but I don't want to go through weaves of straigthing all the time.  What I have decided for the new 2013 look, is to not get any more weaves.  They break you have off and damage it.  I am going for the lace front wigs and clip in extentions.  Yes my hair did grow with the weave, but broke off in the process as well.  I have decided that natureal is the greatest way to keep it healthy.  I only texerize my hair now.  I recently discovered that my hair has this great curly texture now.  I wash my hair and put it in a pony tail and add a ponytail extention I bought from His And Her Hair in California. It looks so natural.  I got the wavey because again I like to wet and go and sometimes I will go to a Dominican hair salon and get it straighten.

RPGshow lace front wig
Once it is straightened I will braid my hair with two braids in the front and leave some of my hair out so that i can have a natural hairline in the front.  I've never done a wig before let alone a front laced wig.  I wanted to educate myself first before buying it.  Once I did, I really love it.  Something fast and stylish.  I really like the fact that the wig gives more options than a weave and won't break your hair off.

Bijoux hair
My other option (and this only happens when I want to put my hands through it) is glueing in some hair extentions.  They do this alot in the fashion industry when they need a different look right away and the model wants to get back to her style after the shoot. I bought this great hair from a beauty supply store in Maryland.  the hair is pre-cut in a style for you.  The hair is from Bijoux.  The company claims that it is compatible to 100% human hair, BUT it really is not.  It does tangle a little, but to wear this style for a week is great.  I do like human hair more, but this will do because the styles are amazing. As you can see from the picutre the pre-cut style is great.  The layering is great and the curls are great.  I will say that I will continue to wear this hair when I need a quick fit and want to get my sexy on.  The weft is so thin that there is not bulckyness.  Loveing it.

Great Hair, makeup, outfit and Amazing confidence
So there you have it.  Three different options for your week and your style.  Results:

Sexy But Safe

Sorry for the blurring picture.  No lighting today due to the weather.  I wanted to share this outfit of the day never less.  I think this is such a sexy but safe outfit for my age.  I love the color green.  It makes my skin pop and it also makes the all black pop.  I paired a sheer blouse with this great Bebe mini 60's inspired dress.  I added so black tights and my BCBG high ass pumps.  The bag is a Mary Frances handbag I got in Richmond VA.  The Mary Frances handbag cost over $100.00, but it was a gift.  The sheer blouse was around $34.00 and the Bebe dress I got at a thriftstore for around $6.00.  Fabulous.  I love this outfit soooo much.  Sexy but safe.   I am also introducing my new hair style.  The natural curly Afro.  I always wanted to have one, but my hair has always been to long or to damage.  I am in the process of growing it out and I think this will be a great way to do so.  I'm loving the new look.  Funky but Chic.  Life As A ThriftyGurl
